Below you will find some of the media exposure Sparky Do Dah has received.

myGC – Good Morning Gold Coast

To help promote the City of Gold Coast Active & Healthy Spring 2016 School Holiday Program, Cam Jackson of myGC came to play at my Pop-Up Playground.

Sparky’s Natural Adventures

My Natural Adventures are now part of the ‘Kids Go Wild!‘ program offered by Ipswich City Council. Cadence has joined me for 2 adventures, with her father Daniel creating these great videos of the experience.

Sparky’s Carnival at the NightQuarter

Logan City Council’s Eats and Beats Festival

Logan City Council invited my to provide Pop-Up Playgrounds at their 2016 Christmas series of Eats and Beats. With food trucks, music, Santa and Me, at various locations around the City of Logan, it was a great way to meet thousands of new people at these amazing community events.

Gold Coast Sun Newspaper

Gold Coast Sun Newspaper

The greatest exposure was undoubtedly landing the front cover of both the North and South editions of the Gold Coast Sun newspaper.

Superheroes were the popular theme of the day (even though I had planned and scheduled this event 6 months previously) and when journalist Andrew Potts called me, I was stocked to think I was getting a small article tucked away in the what’s on guide.

When mum called to tell me I was on the front cover, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face for a week!

The support article inside gave full details on the event, and my intentions for the carnival.

It was a tremendous boost to numbers at that event, and profile as event organiser and children’s entertainer.

Haven for Families

The leading kids/family magazine on the Gold Coast is undoubtedly Haven magazine. In April 2015, to coincide with my City of Gold Coast / Active and Healthy supported ‘Natural Adventures‘, the magazine dedicated a double page spread to Nature Play, which included photos from my previous adventures and an opinion piece from me. It was a real thrill to be published in this magazine, sharing my thoughts from my childhood and how I’ve seen things change now that I’m an adult.

Blank Magazine

Blank GC is the Coast’s leading independent cultural voice, and they have just included a feature on me, Sparky Do Dah! It covers Sparky’s Carnival, my Pop-Up Playgrounds and Natural Adventures. Thanks Blank!

ABC Radio Gold Coast

Damien Larkins, a digital content producer on ABC Gold Coast loved my Natural Adventures so much he said;
“One man is on a mission to remove the cotton wool surrounding modern-day kids and get them out from behind their computer screens into the great outdoors.”

The Gold Coast Hinterlander

The Gold Coast Hinterlander

I got some sweet love from the The Gold Coast Hinterlander (via Sarah Browning), having run two Natural Adventures at Syd Duncan Park in Lower Beechmont during the School Holidays. Such a beautiful part of the world!

The local action committee are looking for innovative ways to develop the park with Nature Play in mind, knowing the many benefits that are derived from kids getting active and healthy in a natural environment.

Juice FM

In the lead up to Sparky’s Carnival #4 – Superheroes Unleashed, I got a call from Adam from Juice FM to ask me what it was all about. Click the Juice Logo to hear this interview.

Sparky’s Carnival #1 Promotional Video

A friend put together a video of the first Sparky’s Carnival at Tallebudgera Community Hall.

Seems like so long ago!

Things have definitely progressed a lot from here; but I was really happy with this first attempt at a carnival – and the feedback was Great!
